First Assistant County Attorney
Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan filed a lawsuit last week to shut down two businesses in one northwest Houston retail center: a strip club for promoting prostitution and a game room for illegal gambling. The suit was brought as the result of numerous undercover investigations by the Houston Police Department, which yielded arrests for prostitution and illegal cash payouts.
The lawsuit seeks to stop the illegal activities at the Glamour Girls Cabaret and RMCT Game Room, located at 14428 Hempstead Highway. The suit states that the defendants are harboring criminal activity by knowingly tolerating it and failing to take reasonable steps to stop it.
“Simply put, Glamour Girls and RMCT Game Room are owned, operated and maintained as common nuisances,” County Attorney Ryan said. “Evidence clearly shows that patrons go to Glamour Girls for the purpose of soliciting prostitution. Additionally, patrons go to RMCT Game Room for the purpose of illegal gambling.”
Named in the suit are Glamour Girls owner Texley Incorporated, RMCT Game Room owner Sharif Kasim Ali and strip center owner Chong Chul Choe.
The County Attorney’s Office is asking the court to issue a temporary injunction requiring the defendants to stop the illegal activity, as well as a bond to ensure this is done. If the County Attorney wins at trial the two businesses will be closed for one year.
